Sean B. Eom is a tenured Professor of Management Information Systems (MIS) and had been appointed as a Copper dome Faculty Fellow in Research at the Harrison College of Business of Southeast Missouri State University during the academic years 1994-1996 and 1998-2000. In recognition of his continuing research contributions to the information systems area, he is listed as one of outstanding intellectuals in the first edition of 2000 Outstanding Intellectuals of the 21st Century compiled by International Biographical Center, Cambridge, England, and 59th Edition of Marquis Who'sWho in America.
He received his Ph.D.
Degree in Management Science from the
University
of Nebraska - Lincoln in 1985. His other degrees are from
the University of South Carolina at Columbia (M.S. in international business), Seoul
National University (MBA in International Management ), and Korea University (B.A.).
Prior to making the decision to pursue his graduate study, he worked as a Weight/Balance
(W/B) Specialist at
Korean Air, where he managed W/B Requirements of all aircraft
at Korean Air including Boeing 747, 727, 707, McDonnell Douglas DC8, DC10, and
Airbus (A300).
His research areas include decision support systems (DSS), and global and inter-organizational information systems management. He is the author/editor of six books including The Development of Decision Support Systems Research: A Bibliometrical Approach, Decision Support Systems Research (1970-1999): A Cumulative Tradition and Reference Disciplines, Author Cocitation Analysis using Custom Bibliographical Databases: An Introduction to the SAS systems, Inter-Organizational Information Systems in the Internet Age, and Encyclopedia of Information Systems. He has published more than 50 refereed journal articles and more than 60 articles in encyclopedia, book chapters, and proceedings of such conferences as International Conference on Information Systems, European Conference on Information Systems, International Conference on Enterprise Information Systems, IFIP TC8/WG 8.3 International Conference on Decision Support Systems, Decision Science Institutes, International Conference on Information Systems Development and Association for Information Systems.
He has chaired a mini track, Building Relationships between Information Systems and Other Academic Disciplines, at Americas Conference on Information Systems Conference in 2000, 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2006, and 2007. He has served as a member of program/scientific committee of the International Conference of the Association of Information Systems SIG DSS/International Society of DSS in 2005 and 2007. IFIP International Conference on Decision Support Systems in 2002, 2004, and 2006, ICIS 2003 Workshop - Research in Decision Support Systems, 2003 IRMA international conference, and Miwest AIS 2007 conference. He frequently reviews papers for academic journals such as Decision Sciences, Decision Support Systems, OMEGA: The International Journal of Management Science, European Journal of Operational Research, International Transactions in Operations Research, Information Systems Research, and Journal of Management Information Systems.
He is a member of Association for Information Systems (AIS), Decision Sciences Institute (DSI), INFORMS, and International Federation for Information Processing (IFIP) TC8/WG 8.3 Decision Support Systems.
